PART I  

OPENING PROGRAM

The General Assembly and Socials in Region IX – Zamboanga Peninsula was successfully conducted on December 20, 2006 held at Crystal Ballroom, Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City at 3:00 in the afternoon. It was preceded by photo session in a cultural attire, Simple program follows with some parlor games and production number performed by talents of the Region IX employees. Mr. Pedro Baradi, Jr. and Ms. Dimna Bienes emceed the activities. Mr. Alvie Baluan of Regional Office led the opening prayer.

Welcome Remarks

RD Manulon welcomed Hon. Carmelita N. Ericta, NSO Administrator and Civil Registrar General. And also the Region IX employees who have come from different provinces (Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, Basilan and as well as from the Regional Office). RD Manulon was very grateful that all employees of Region IX participated in this rare event. He emphasized that the understanding of employees of the financial stand of the office and their support made the assembly possible. Afterwards, employees of NSO Basilan gave cultural presentation.

  Message

Hon. Carmelita N. Ericta, NSO Administrator and Civil Registrar General gave an inspirational message and some good news to all employees. She said “Let us reflect on our accomplishments and challenges this year, and the possibilities for 2007 and beyond. This is a moment to reflect on the good things we did this year and the challenges we met along the way.” On the other hand, Administrator Ericta congratulated all committees who have been a part of the 3NWCR last August 8-10, 2006 . She also thanked everybody for looking up to the NSO vision and creativity, for getting things done with passion and for pursuing the common goals and objectives with their unshakable commitment.

Administrator Ericta talked about the statistical activities. She also updated everyone about the completed web-enabled QSPBI questionnaire in data collection; QSPBI will be updated through the use of internet. She said “it is important to re-think of ways of how we can do our work more efficiently and with integrity, and not to be contented with the status quo nor tolerate acts of interviewers, which undermine the quality of our data”. In relation with the Civil Registration, she said “we need to re-think how things can be done best. We came up with the SMS – based query system for RA 9048 petitions where NSO employees can inquire on the status of petitions sent to the OCRG for review.” Through this, the Central Office initiated the use of electronic annotation on RA 9048 affected documents. Instead of manually typing the annotation, it is now done electronically this will minimize errors and speeding up the process. But on the other hand, this has not yet been launch for public use. She inspired everyone by the quotation of Michelangelo saying “the greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.” After reading it, she said that “I know we achieved more than we aimed for. Let us keep this spirit of commitment burning in our hearts as we usher in the coming year.” She also talked about on the Offices that were affected by the typhoon Reming in Marinduque and state of calamity in Bicol province. While typhoon Seniang also mainly affected the provinces in the Visayas like Aklan, Antique, Biliran, Samar and Leyte as well as the fire in the NSO NCR Office.

She also made mentioned some good news for all. Administrator Ericta ended her message by extending her personal best wishes to all employees and to their families during the Holiday Season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Honoring of Retirees

Ms. Shirley Ann Juarez of Regional Office introduced the Retirees of Region IX. They are the following: Mr. Alan Anjalin DSO of NSO Basilan, Mr. Antonio Jalosjos SCO I of NSO, Zamboanga del Norte, Ms. Nerisa Lim, Disbursing Officer of NSO Basilan and Mr. Dominador Laong, SCO I of Zamboanga Sibugay. All retirees were given certificates of recognition and a mug bearing their picture therein.

District Award

RD Manulon and assisted by AO Cuarte awarded the District Awards to the following District. The First prize was awarded to District I of Zamboanga del Sur; 2 nd prize was awarded to District I of Zamboanga del Norte; and 3 rd prize was awarded to District II of Zamboanga del Sur.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

PART II

The Part II of the program composed of surprise numbers and competition like Search for 2006 Jukebox King, Search for Best in Attire and Search for Star of the Night. Ms. Lofel Siborboro and Ms. Twinkle Usman gave the intermission number. Ms. Cristy Partosa won for Best in Attire while Ms. Shirley Juarez won Star of the Night. The announcement of winners was done by PSO Josette Abdurahim. The Board of Judges composed of the DXMR reporter Ms. Shiela Covarrubias, Retired Disturbing Officer of Basilan Ms. Nerisa Lim and Ms. Warda Manulon, wife of RD Manulon.

PART III

Parlor Games

Mr. Teodorico Asuncion II chaired the parlor games assisted by Ms. Eunice Avanzado. Everybody were having fun and actively participating in the entire game. There were different kinds of games like the guess the title, mummy, longest clip paper, pera o bayong and bring me something. All winners received lots of gift packs courtesy of some sponsors.

CLOSING PROGRAM

SO Josette Abdurahim gave the closing remarks. In her speech, she thanked everybody for their support, cooperation and active participation. She said “for those who are here, surely they have fun and enjoyed this once in a lifetime gathering where almost everybody participated”. She ended up greeting everybody a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. And certainly, Christmas party won't be complete without exchanging gift to their manitos and manitas. Everyone form a circle and sang the jingle of exchanging gift and ended up sing the Community song. And Dr. Adelaida Cuarte, Administrative Officer of Regional Office formally closed the event by leading the closing prayer.
